Class Participation/Discussion Forums
Although PRS courses are not graded and students may participate to any extent they desire, we encourage students to post regularly in the discussion forums. One of our foundational beliefs is that we can cultivate lively, enriching online learning communities that consist of voices from different backgrounds and parts of the world.
Students should feel empowered to try out new and unfamiliar ideas, respond to and build upon one another's contributions, and voice dissenting views. To create an atmosphere conducive to this standard of discussion, we ask students to respect the following guidelines.
Students have the right to express themselves and participate freely in discussions. However, they are expected to treat each other and the instructor with courtesy and respect. Offensive or inappropriate language is not to be used in any form of communication, including discussion forums, private messages, etc. Students are allowed to express disagreement with each other or the instructor, but they must do so in a civil manner.
Discussion forums are reserved for postings related to course materials, themes, and discussion prompts. Postings of a personal or non-academic nature are not permitted and may be removed by the instructor should they appear.
